688 Attack Sub – Sega Genesis Game

688 Attack Sub is a submarine simulation for the Sega Genesis, adapted from the computer game of the same name. You command a nuclear attack submarine and play through Cold War scenarios in which detection matters more than firepower. Play is run from station displays rather than direct action controls: you work with sonar, set course, depth and speed, and manage torpedoes and missiles against surface ships and enemy submarines. Much of the tension comes from staying quiet, since running fast or active pinging makes you easier to find. Missions place you in patrol and interception situations, and success generally depends on patient positioning before you fire. The pace is deliberate and reading the sonar picture correctly is the core skill, making this a simulation rather than an arcade-style undersea shooter.
