Aerofighters Assault – Nintendo 64 Game

Aerofighters Assault is a 3D aerial combat game for the Nintendo 64, following on from the Aero Fighters arcade shooters but shifting to a fully polygonal behind-the-plane perspective. You fly missions over open terrain and ocean, engaging enemy aircraft, ships and ground installations with a machine gun and lock-on missiles. Objectives vary between dogfights, escort and target-destruction tasks, and each mission ends with a debriefing before you continue. You choose from a roster of jets with differing handling and armament, and successful play unlocks additional aircraft. There is also a versus mode for two players to dogfight against each other in split screen. Controls use the analogue stick for pitch and roll with shoulder buttons for weapon selection, aiming for accessible arcade-style flight rather than simulation.
