Ariel the Little Mermaid – Sega Genesis Game

A side-scrolling underwater action game for the Sega Genesis based on Disney’s The Little Mermaid. You play as Ariel, swimming through ocean stages in a mermaid form and using her abilities to deal with the sea creatures and hazards in her path. Movement is built around free swimming in all directions rather than standard platform jumping, so levels are laid out as open water areas with currents, obstacles and enemies to navigate. Along the way you free trapped sea life and work toward confronting the forces standing against Ariel and her friends. Familiar characters and settings from the film appear throughout, and the presentation leans on bright cartoon sprites and colourful undersea backdrops. Controls are simple, with a single main attack and directional swimming.
