Asterix and the Great Rescue – Sega Genesis Game

Asterix and the Great Rescue is a side-scrolling platformer for the Sega Genesis based on the comic series by Goscinny and Uderzo. You control Asterix or Obelix as they set out to rescue friends taken by the Romans, working through stages that mix running, jumping and combat with legionaries and other obstacles. The two characters handle differently, with Obelix relying on sheer strength while Asterix is the nimbler of the pair, and levels include climbing sections, moving platforms and hazards to time correctly. Backgrounds and character sprites take their look from the comics, keeping the cartoon tone of the source material. Play is single-player, with items to collect and boss-style encounters punctuating the journey.
