Barbie as the Island Princess – PS2 Game

Barbie as the Island Princess is a PlayStation 2 game based on the animated film, following Barbie as a young woman raised on a tropical island alongside animal companions. The game is an adventure with platforming elements: you run, climb, and explore jungle and island environments, collect items, and solve simple environmental puzzles. Animal friends play a part in progression, and music and singing are woven into the presentation, in keeping with the film’s musical numbers. Stages are broken into short sections with clear goals, and the difficulty is pitched at younger players, with generous checkpoints and straightforward controls. Story scenes and dialogue between chapters connect the game to the movie’s plot, and the visuals use bright colours and costume changes drawn from the film.
