Blaster Master – NES Game

Blaster Master is an action game for the Nintendo Entertainment System that alternates between two styles of play. Most of the time you drive Sophia, an armored tank, through large side-scrolling caverns, using its cannon to clear enemies and gradually earning upgrades such as hover thrusters, wall-climbing treads and dive capability that open routes you could not reach before. When you find a door, the view switches to an overhead perspective and you continue on foot as Jason, on a smaller scale, firing a handheld gun and grenades through cramped rooms toward a boss. Defeating that boss usually grants the tank a new ability. The interconnected underground map rewards backtracking, and the game is known for its demanding difficulty.
