Chessmaster for the Game Boy brings the established chess program to Nintendo’s monochrome handheld. Play follows standard chess rules against a computer opponent whose skill can be set across a range of levels, so the same cartridge works for someone learning the basics and for a player wanting a tougher game. The board is shown from above in a compact layout that fits the small screen, with the directional pad used to pick up and place pieces. Assistance options common to the series are present, including hints and the ability to undo a move while you work out a position. Games in progress can be saved so a long match can be continued later. A two-player mode lets you hand the system between opponents for a game against another person rather than the computer.
This listing is for an authentic original cartridge — no reproductions. Every product we sell is cleaned and tested before it ships, and our games are backed by a 1-year warranty. Choose Game Only or Complete (CIB) above.
