Cliffhanger – Sega CD Game

Cliffhanger for Sega CD is an action game based on the mountain-rescue action film. You play a climber pursuing armed criminals through alpine terrain, working through side-scrolling stages that combine platforming with hand-to-hand combat. Punches, kicks and jumps handle the fighting, while climbing sections, ledges and environmental hazards break up the enemy encounters. The CD format is used for a soundtrack drawn from disc audio and for footage tying the stages to the film’s story, presented between action segments. Stages progress in a fixed order through snowfields, caves and interiors, with a limited health bar to manage. The pacing is linear, with each level ending once you reach its far side or defeat the enemies blocking your path, in the style of early-1990s licensed action releases.
