Darkstalkers Chronicle: The Chaos Tower is a handheld entry in Capcom’s monster-themed 2D fighting series for the PSP. It gathers characters and systems drawn from across the earlier Darkstalkers games, so you can pick a fighter and play with the rules of different series iterations. The cast is made up of gothic-horror archetypes such as vampires, werewolves, mummies and other creatures, all rendered in hand-drawn sprite animation. Fights are one-on-one with a six-button layout, chain combos, air blocking and meter-driven super moves. The Chaos Tower mode has you climbing through successive floors of opponents with conditions that change as you go, while standard arcade, versus and training options are also included. Head-to-head play against another PSP owner is supported through the system’s wireless link.
