David Crane’s Amazing Tennis – Sega Genesis Game

Amazing Tennis takes a different approach to the sport than most 16-bit tennis titles by placing the camera low and behind your player, close to court level, so you judge the ball as it travels toward you rather than looking down from above. You control shot direction and type as you move around the baseline, working points with serves, groundstrokes, volleys and lobs. Matches can be played against the computer or against another person, with court surfaces that affect how the ball bounces and how quickly you can change direction. The presentation is fairly straightforward, focusing on the rallies themselves rather than menus and extras. Anyone used to overhead tennis games will need some time to adjust to the perspective and the timing it demands.
