Dirt 2 brings off-road racing to the PlayStation Portable. You compete in a career made up of events across a range of international locations, driving rally cars, buggies, trucks and other off-road machinery over dirt, gravel and mud. Event types mix point-to-point rally stages against the clock with pack races on closed circuits, so you switch between careful, precise driving and wheel-to-wheel contact depending on the discipline. Vehicles handle loosely on the surface, with slides and weight transfer central to getting through corners, and damage accumulates over a run. Progressing through the career unlocks further events and cars. Presentation leans on the modern rally scene rather than a simulation-heavy approach, and the handheld version is built to suit shorter sessions on the PSP’s controls.
