Donkey Kong Country

The Snowmads have frozen Donkey Kong’s island, and DK sets out across a series of themed islands to take it back. This side-scrolling platformer builds levels in 2.5D, with paths that curve into the background and foreground. Donkey Kong can carry one of three partners: Diddy Kong’s jetpack gives a brief hover, Dixie Kong’s ponytail spin adds extra lift, and Cranky Kong’s cane allows bouncing on spikes and hazards. Stages take in jungle, beach, savanna, snow and fruit-themed worlds, punctuated by mine cart tracks, rocket barrel flights and underwater swimming sections. KONG letters, puzzle pieces and hidden exits are scattered through each level, and bosses guard the end of every island. A second player can join in as the partner Kong for cooperative play, and time trials open after clearing stages.
