Dynamite Headdy is a side-scrolling platformer for the Sega Genesis set against a puppet-theater backdrop, with stages built to look like stage sets and props. You play as Headdy, whose main ability is throwing his detachable head in several directions to strike enemies, break objects and pull himself toward certain anchor points. Scattered through the levels are power-ups that swap his head for alternatives with different effects, temporarily changing how you attack or move. Stages are short and varied, frequently shifting perspective or introducing one-off gimmicks, and each ends in a boss fight against oversized puppet enemies with distinct attack patterns. Presentation leans heavily on bright, busy visuals and slapstick staging, while the moment-to-moment play stays focused on precise jumping and aiming.
