Einhander – PS1 Game

Einhander is a side-scrolling shooter that renders its ships and backgrounds in 3D while keeping the action on a 2D plane. You pilot a fighter through a war between Earth and the Moon, moving through industrial corridors, open skies and enemy installations. The core mechanic is the gunpod: your craft grabs weapons dropped by defeated enemies and mounts them on a manipulator arm, letting you swap between machine guns, cannons, missiles and other armaments as ammunition runs down. Different selectable ships carry gunpods in different positions, changing how you aim and hold onto weapons. Stages end with large boss encounters, and scoring rewards chaining kills and surviving without losing your equipment. The presentation leans on camera sweeps, cinematic angles and an electronic soundtrack.
