Fear Effect – PS1 Game

Fear Effect is an action adventure set in a near-future Hong Kong. Three mercenaries, Hana, Glas and Deke, take a job to find the missing daughter of a crime boss, and the search pulls them into something considerably stranger than a kidnapping. The game uses cel-shaded character models over animated pre-rendered backgrounds, giving scenes a moving, anime-styled look. You explore fixed camera environments, solve puzzles, and fight with firearms and melee attacks. Instead of a conventional health bar, a fear meter tracks your character’s state and recovers when you avoid danger; when it fills, you die, often in an elaborate cutscene. The story switches between the three leads at set points, and dialogue and cinematics carry the narrative between combat and puzzle sequences.
