Final Fantasy XI – PS2 Game

Final Fantasy XI brings the series into massively multiplayer territory, and the PlayStation 2 edition connects console players to the same online world of Vana’diel shared with other platforms. You create a character, choose a job, and build them up through quests, missions and party-based fighting rather than following a single fixed hero. Combat happens in real time in the open world, with groups coordinating attacks, healing and support abilities, and much of the game is structured around cooperating with other players over long sessions. Story content is delivered through mission chains tied to the world’s nations and their conflicts. Note that this is an online title: it requires the PlayStation 2 hard disk drive, a broadband connection and an active service account, so the offline single-player experience found elsewhere in the series is not part of it.
