Gargoyle’s Quest – Gameboy Game

Gargoyle’s Quest is an action game for the original Game Boy starring Firebrand, a red demon drawn from the Ghosts ‘n Goblins series. It splits into two layers of play. On a top-down overworld map you travel between towns and locations, talk to other demons for information and objectives, and run into random encounters. Those encounters and the story’s set pieces play out as side-scrolling action stages, where Firebrand fights with a projectile fire attack, clings to walls, and uses a limited hovering jump to cross gaps and hazards. Progress grants new abilities and stronger fire types, which in turn open up areas that were previously impassable, and the maximum length of your hover and your life total both increase as you advance. A password system records progress between sessions.
