Growlanser

Growlanser: Generations is a PlayStation 2 release that collects two entries in the Growlanser series of Japanese tactical role-playing games. Battles play out in real time on a field where you issue movement and action orders to your party members, pausing to plan as the situation develops rather than taking strict turns. Between fights, the games are story-driven, with anime-style character art, extensive dialogue and conversation choices that shape how events and relationships unfold. Characters gain levels, equipment and abilities as you progress, and party composition matters for handling different enemy formations. The two included titles each tell their own story within the same setting, so there is a substantial amount of content across the package. Presentation combines illustrated portraits with sprite-based tactical maps.
