Impact Racing – Sega Saturn Game

A combat racing game for the Sega Saturn in which your car is armed and the opposition is there to be destroyed. Rather than simply placing well, you are typically required to wreck a set number of rival vehicles within a time limit to move on, so driving lines matter mainly as a means of lining up shots. Weapon pickups are scattered around the circuits and swap out your armament as you collect them, while your own car takes damage from enemy fire and collisions. The tracks run through enclosed, industrial-looking environments with barriers and hazards that punish careless driving at speed. Play is from a behind-the-car viewpoint with a heads-up display tracking damage, ammunition and remaining targets. The result sits between arcade racer and shooter, favouring aggression over clean lap times.
