K-1 Grand Prix – PS1 Game

K-1 Grand Prix is a PlayStation fighting game based on the K-1 kickboxing promotion. Bouts take place in a squared ring and follow stand-up rules, so the action centres on punches, kicks and knee strikes rather than grappling or throws, with rounds, knockdowns and knockout finishes deciding matches. You select a fighter and work through opposition in tournament-style play, or take on a second player in head-to-head bouts. Controls cover high, mid and low attacks along with blocking and movement around the ring, and stamina management matters as rounds wear on. Presentation uses polygonal fighters, ring announcers and crowd-filled arena backdrops in keeping with televised K-1 events. It suits players interested in a more rule-bound combat sports game rather than the special moves and energy bars of arcade fighters.
