King’s Quest – Sega Master System Game

King’s Quest is a graphic adventure set in the kingdom of Daventry. You control a knight sent by the ailing king to recover three stolen treasures, walking between screens that each show a hand-drawn location such as forests, castles, caves and cliffside paths. Progress comes from examining scenery, picking up objects and working out where and how to use them, often drawing on fairy tale and folklore situations. Many screens hold hazards that can end your quest, including hostile creatures and drops, so caution and saving matter. There is no combat system in the usual sense; puzzles are solved by observation and item use rather than fighting. The world can be explored in a fairly open order, and some puzzles have more than one workable solution.
