Mario Tennis – Nintendo 64 Game

Mario Tennis brings the Mushroom Kingdom cast to the court on Nintendo 64. You pick a character and play singles or doubles matches, using topspin, slice, lob and drop shots that are performed by tapping and combining the shot buttons. Timing your swing and positioning matter, and holding a button to charge a shot adds power at the cost of control. Characters differ in speed, power and reach, so lineups change how rallies play out. Modes include exhibition matches and tournaments, and multiplayer supports up to four players on one console for doubles. Courts have different surfaces that affect ball speed and bounce. The presentation is light and cartoonish, with familiar voices and animations, while the underlying tennis rules are played straight.
