Metal Gear Solid 2

Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance is an expanded release of Sons of Liberty for the Xbox. It contains the main stealth campaign, in which Solid Snake infiltrates a tanker and Raiden works through the offshore Big Shell facility, avoiding guards, using tranquilizers and distractions, and breaking line of sight when alerts are raised. Alongside the story, Substance adds a large set of standalone missions built around the same mechanics, including VR training scenarios that test sneaking, shooting and elimination under strict conditions, plus alternate side stories and a skateboarding mode. The extra content reuses the campaign’s environments and character models in isolated challenge form, so much of the appeal is practising the systems outside the narrative. Cutscenes and codec conversations carry the plot.
