Muppet Monster Adventure is a 3D platformer for the PlayStation starring Robin the Frog, who takes on monster forms as he explores a set of spooky themed worlds. You run, jump and climb through levels built around classic movie-monster settings, collecting items, solving simple environmental puzzles and dealing with enemies as you go. Robin’s monster transformations give him different abilities, and switching between them is how you reach areas that are otherwise blocked off. Other Muppet characters appear along the way, and the tone stays light rather than genuinely frightening. Level goals involve finding key items and clearing objectives before moving on to the next area. Controls cover movement, jumping and a camera you adjust while exploring, following the template of late-1990s mascot platformers on the PlayStation.
