NBA Jam on the Sega Genesis adapts the arcade basketball game to Sega’s 16-bit console. You control a two-player team from a side-scrolling view of a single court, picking from licensed NBA franchises and their players. There are no fouls, no free throws and no out-of-bounds fuss, so possession swings quickly between steals, blocks and rebounds. Digitized player sprites leap far above the rim for backboard-shattering dunks, and hitting several shots in a row sets your player on fire, improving shooting until the opponent scores or the streak ends. Turbo lets you sprint or push through defenders at the cost of a meter. A commentary voice calls out shots and dunks. Two players can cooperate on one team or compete head to head.
