The Genesis release of the updated arcade basketball game. Matches are two-on-two, with no fouls and no free throws, so play stays fast and physical. Players jump to absurd heights, dunks rattle the backboard, and hitting a run of shots sets you on fire for a stretch of boosted speed and accuracy. Tournament Edition builds on the original NBA Jam with additions such as substitutions, hidden characters, and toggles that alter the rules of a game. You choose from NBA teams and their rosters, and an announcer calls the action with catchphrases over the top of the crowd noise. Play alone against the CPU or with friends, and the Genesis version supports multiplayer through the console’s controller ports.
