NBA Live 2004 is the PlayStation 2 entry in EA Sports’ licensed basketball series, featuring NBA teams, players and arenas. Freestyle Control on the analog stick handles dribble moves, hesitations, spins and post play, so scoring often comes from breaking down your defender one-on-one. The game introduces Dynasty mode, where you run a franchise over multiple seasons and manage the draft, trades, contracts and player development between games. Exhibition, season and playoff modes are also available, with roster editing and local multiplayer for head-to-head or co-op play. Player ratings drive shooting range, defense, rebounding and athleticism, while fouls, free throws and the shot clock are all simulated. Presentation is broadcast-styled, with play-by-play commentary, arena crowds and a licensed soundtrack.
