Novastorm – PS1 Game

A rail shooter built on full-motion video. Rather than freely exploring, your craft flies along pre-rendered animated backdrops while you move around the screen, shooting enemies and dodging obstacles as the route unfolds. Environments change across stages, from caverns and industrial structures to open aerial sections, with weapon pickups and power-ups appearing during runs. Enemies arrive in set patterns, so learning each sequence is a large part of progressing, and collisions with scenery are as dangerous as enemy fire. Stage-ending encounters against larger targets punctuate the journey. The game leans on cinematic CGI visuals and a driving soundtrack that were characteristic of CD-based games of its era. Play is fast and reaction-based, with a focus on survival and pattern memorisation.
