Psychonauts – PS2 Game

Psychonauts is a 3D platformer starring Raz, a boy who runs away to a summer camp for children training as psychic agents. Most levels take place inside the minds of other characters, with each mental world styled around that person’s obsessions and anxieties, from a paranoid conspiracy theorist’s suburb to a stage-managed theatrical realm. You collect figments, mental baggage and other items while unlocking psychic abilities including telekinesis, levitation, pyrokinesis, invisibility and a marksmanship attack, which are used for both combat and platforming. Between levels you can explore the camp grounds, talk to campers and counsellors, and enter minds you have gained access to. The tone is comedic and dialogue-heavy, with unusual art direction and character designs carrying much of the game’s personality alongside its jumping and puzzle challenges.
