A GameCube release of the survival horror instalment that follows Claire Redfield as she searches for her brother Chris and ends up imprisoned on a remote island facility. The story later switches between characters and moves to an Antarctic base. Unlike earlier entries, environments are rendered in real-time 3D with cameras that pan and follow rather than relying on pre-rendered stills. Play keeps the series structure of limited inventory space, key items, puzzle solving and conservative ammunition use, with saves handled at typewriters. Claire and Chris carry different weapons and face zombies, dogs, bats and larger mutated creatures, along with recurring human antagonists. This version includes the added cutscenes and adjustments made for the updated X release.
