Shadow of Rome – PS2 Game

An action game for the PlayStation 2 set in ancient Rome in the aftermath of Caesar’s assassination. Play alternates between two characters. As Agrippa, you fight in gladiatorial arenas, using swords, spears, shields and improvised weapons, dismembering opponents and picking up their gear mid-fight while playing to the crowd for favour. Chariot races and large arena battles break up the on-foot combat. As Octavianus, you move through stealth-focused stages, avoiding guards, using disguises and eavesdropping to gather information rather than fighting directly. The two threads advance a single story about clearing Agrippa’s father of the murder charge. The combat is graphic, with weapon durability and gore playing into the arena spectacle, while the Octavianus sections rely on patience, hiding spots and timing patrols.
