Shin Megami Tensei

A turn-based role-playing game in the Shin Megami Tensei family, set in a bleak enclosed world where rival tribes fight one another under the promise that the victors will ascend to Nirvana. After a strange event gives the combatants the power to transform into demons, your party gains monstrous forms used in battle. Fighting uses the series’ press-turn system, where hitting an enemy weakness or landing a critical hit grants extra actions, so learning resistances and exploiting them is central. Characters grow through the Mantra grid, spending accumulated points to unlock skill sets and elemental affinities, letting you shape each party member’s role. Demon forms can devour weakened enemies for additional benefits. Dungeons are explored from a third-person view with random encounters, and the story is delivered through cutscenes between areas.
