Shinobi – Sega Master System Game

The Sega Master System version of Shinobi, a side-scrolling ninja action game. You fight through missions made up of short stages set on multiple platform levels, freeing captured children held by enemy forces and then facing a boss. Shuriken serve as your ranged attack, with hand-to-hand strikes when enemies close in, and a limited ninja magic power to use when you are overwhelmed. Rescuing hostages can grant stronger weapons for the remainder of a stage. Enemies include gunmen, knife throwers and armoured soldiers who appear from set positions, so learning the layout of each section is a large part of progressing. Stages run on a timer, adding pressure to find every hostage before reaching the exit.
