Skullmonkeys – PS1 Game

A side-scrolling platformer starring Klaymen, continuing from The Neverhood. The game keeps the clay-animation look of its predecessor, with characters and environments built from modelled clay and rendered into 2D stages. You run and jump through levels populated by the titular skullmonkeys and other creatures, collecting items, finding hidden areas, and using pickups and power-ups that grant temporary offensive abilities. Layouts mix straightforward platforming with vertical climbs, moving hazards and bonus stages, and boss fights close out sections. Lives and extra continues are earned through collection, so exploring off the main path pays off. Animated cutscenes and a distinctive vocal-heavy soundtrack carry the surreal humour of the series between levels. It plays as a traditional platformer rather than the adventure format of the earlier game.
