Sonic Heroes – PS2 Game

Sonic Heroes swaps solo platforming for a three-character team system. Every team contains a speed, flight and power type, and you swap between them mid-stage: speed characters chain homing attacks and grind rails, flight characters lift the trio over gaps, and power characters break through armour and heavy obstacles. Four teams, fronted by Sonic, Shadow, Amy and Espio’s detective group, work through the same stage list with their own objectives, difficulty and story sequences, so each playthrough differs in emphasis. Stages lean on high speed, loops, boost pads and long descents, punctuated by boss battles against Eggman’s machines. Hidden keys carried to the end of a level unlock special stages where you chase Chaos Emeralds. Two-player modes include races and battles using the same team mechanics.
