Spice World – PS1 Game

Spice World is a PlayStation title based on the Spice Girls. Rather than a conventional action game, it centres on building performances: you choreograph dance routines for the group and put together music tracks, arranging moves and sound to create your own numbers. The results can be played back as a performance, and the game includes footage and images of the band alongside their music. Play is menu and selection driven, with the emphasis on assembling and viewing routines rather than on scoring or competition. It was aimed squarely at fans of the group during the height of their popularity, and works as a music and creativity package rather than a game with levels to clear. Best understood as a pop-culture curiosity from the PlayStation’s licensed software era.
