Super Monaco GP – Sega Master System Game

Super Monaco GP is a Formula One-style racing game for the Sega Master System, converted from Sega’s arcade original. The action is viewed from behind the car as you accelerate down straights, brake into corners and weave through a dense field of rival vehicles on circuits modelled on Grand Prix racing. You choose between low and high gear settings, and clipping opponents or barriers costs speed and can end a run. Qualifying determines your starting position, and races are run against the clock as well as the pack, with checkpoints extending the timer. The Master System conversion keeps the arcade’s simple controls and quick restarts, favouring memorisation of corner sequences and overtaking lines over simulation detail. Roadside scenery and trackside signage scroll past to convey the sense of speed.
