Superman: Shadow of Apokolips is a third-person action game styled after Superman: The Animated Series, using cel-shaded visuals and character designs drawn from the show. You play as Superman across a series of mission-based stages, switching between flight and ground combat as objectives demand. Powers are central to the design: heat vision, freeze breath, super strength and flight are used both in combat and to solve situational problems such as putting out fires, stopping runaway vehicles or clearing debris. Missions often place civilian safety and time limits alongside the fighting, so you juggle rescues with taking down enemies. The story pits Superman against Lex Luthor and forces connected to Darkseid and Apokolips, with cutscenes presented in the same animated style as the stages themselves.
