Sword of Vermilion – Sega Genesis Game

Sword of Vermilion is a role-playing game for the Sega Genesis that switches between several viewpoints. You explore the overworld and towns from a top-down perspective, moving between shops, inns and townspeople who provide direction, while dungeons and caves are navigated from a first-person corridor view. Random encounters drop you into a separate overhead arena where you fight in real time, moving your character around enemies and attacking or casting spells directly rather than picking from a menu. Boss battles use a larger side-on presentation. You gather rings that grant magic, buy weapons and armor, and build your character’s stats as you follow a quest of vengeance and lost royal heritage across the kingdom. The mix of viewpoints and real-time combat sets it apart from menu-driven RPGs of the period.
