Tao Feng: Fist of the Lotus is a 3D fighting game for the original Xbox, set around rival martial arts factions and fought by a cast of stylised characters with distinct fighting approaches. Matches take place in enclosed arenas built with interactive scenery: walls and objects can break, and fighters can be knocked into or through parts of the environment. The combat system tracks damage on the fighters themselves, with injuries showing on their bodies and affecting how they perform as a round wears on, and it includes a meter used for special moves and recovery. Alongside standard versus play against the computer or a second player, there is a single-player progression mode that unlocks additional content. Presentation leans on flashy special effects and exaggerated, wire-fu inspired animation.
