Tecmo Super Hockey is an ice hockey game for the Sega Genesis, built in the same accessible, arcade-leaning style as the publisher’s football titles. Play uses an overhead-angled view of the rink as you skate, pass, shoot, check and fight for the puck, with line changes and goaltending handled during the flow of a match. Alongside single games against the computer and two-player matches, the game supports playing through a season with standings and statistics tracked toward a championship. Teams are drawn from the professional league cities of its era, and individual players carry differing ratings that affect speed, shooting and checking. Periods are short by default, and games move at a fast pace with high shot counts rather than a simulation-heavy rhythm.
