Toki – NES Game

Toki is a side-scrolling action platformer for the NES, adapted from the arcade game. You play as a man transformed into an ape by a sorcerer, setting out to rescue his kidnapped companion and regain his human form. Your primary attack is spitting projectiles from your mouth, which can be upgraded through power-ups that change the shot into spreads, flames and other variants. Levels move through jungle, caves, water and other themed areas filled with creatures that attack in patterns, and each stage closes with a boss encounter. Helmets and other pickups provide temporary protection, and precise jumping is needed to cross gaps and hazards. The cartoonish enemy designs and animation carry over from the arcade original.
