War Gods – PS1 Game

War Gods is a one-on-one fighting game brought home from the arcade. The roster is made up of warriors from different eras and settings who have been transformed by a mysterious substance, each with their own weapon and fighting style. Characters are rendered as digitised 3D models moving on a 2D fighting plane, with a sidestep move that lets you dodge into the background or foreground. Combat centres on combo strings, special moves and weapon attacks, plus finishing moves in the Midway tradition. The PlayStation version includes arcade-style single-player progression toward the game’s boss, along with two-player versus matches. Stages are themed to the individual fighters, from ancient temples to industrial and otherworldly settings, and matches are fought in rounds with a timer.
