Castlevania – NES Game

A side-scrolling action platformer in which you play as Simon Belmont, entering Dracula’s castle armed with a whip. The whip can be upgraded as you progress, and hearts collected from candles and enemies power sub-weapons such as the dagger, axe, holy water, cross and stopwatch, each suited to different situations. Stages move through areas of the castle including corridors, caverns and towers, and each ends in a fight against a monster drawn from horror fiction before you reach Dracula himself. Movement is deliberate: jumps cannot be steered in mid-air, and taking a hit knocks Simon backwards, often into pits. Stairs, breakable blocks and hidden items reward exploring each screen carefully while managing limited lives and continues.
