Excitebike – NES Game

Excitebike is a motocross racing game for the Nintendo Entertainment System, viewed from the side as your rider moves across lanes of a scrolling dirt track. You manage acceleration with two speeds, the faster one building engine heat that will stall you if the temperature gauge redlines, so cooling zones and pacing matter. Ramps, jumps and mud patches fill the course, and you tilt the bike in the air with the D-pad to control your landing angle; bad landings throw the rider off. Modes include racing alone against the clock and racing with computer-controlled riders sharing the track. A design mode lets you build your own course by placing obstacles and then ride it, giving the game replay value beyond the built-in tracks.
