Adventure Island II – NES Game

A side-scrolling platformer for the Nintendo Entertainment System. You play as Master Higgins, working across a series of islands shown on an overworld map, choosing stages and progressing toward boss encounters. A vitality meter drains as you run, so collecting fruit is constant and necessary, and most hits cost you a life outright. Eggs hidden throughout each stage hold throwing weapons such as axes and boomerangs, as well as dinosaur companions Higgins can ride, each with its own ability for handling fire, water or ground enemies. Stage types include jungles, caves, oceans and icy areas, with hazards packed tightly enough that learning layouts is part of the process. Skateboards let you move faster while making stops and turns harder.
