Golf – NES Game

Golf is an early sports title for the Nintendo Entertainment System. You play full 18-hole rounds from a view behind the golfer, with an overhead map showing the hole layout, hazards and green. Each shot begins with club selection and aiming, then a two-stage timed meter that sets power and then contact, where mistiming sends the ball hooking or slicing. Wind direction and strength are displayed and must be factored into your aim, and bunkers, water and rough all affect your next shot. Putting uses a closer view with the slope of the green indicated so you can judge break and pace. Scoring follows standard golf rules against par. A second player can join in alternating turns, and the controls are simple enough to pick up in a few holes.
