Mario Paint is a creative tool for the Super Nintendo that uses the system’s mouse peripheral. You draw on a single canvas with brushes, stamps, fill patterns, line tools and an eraser, using art assets themed around Mario characters and objects. An animation mode lets you build short frame-by-frame sequences and play them back, and a music composer places note icons on a staff so you can write tunes using sound effects and instrument samples, including character voices. Stamps can be edited to create your own designs. Rather than a game with levels or goals, most of the software is open-ended experimenting, though it does include Gnat Attack, a mouse-driven minigame where you swat flies with a swatter across escalating waves. The SNES mouse is needed to use it.
