Tecmo Bowl – NES Game

Tecmo Bowl is an arcade-style American football game for the NES. Play is fast and simplified: on offense you pick from a small set of plays shown on a selection screen, while the defense simultaneously guesses which one you chose, so a correct read can blow up the play immediately. Passing uses a receiver-selection system, and running backs can break tackles by mashing buttons. The game features real professional players of the era through a players’ association license, with teams identified by city. Modes cover single-player games against the computer and head-to-head play for two people sharing the couch. Matches are short, scores tend to run high, and individual star players are noticeably more effective than the rest of the roster.
