Adventure Island – NES Game

A side-scrolling platformer for the Nintendo Entertainment System. You control Master Higgins, a skateboarding islander running left to right through jungle, cave, ocean and mountain stages to rescue his kidnapped girlfriend. A vitality meter drains constantly, so you must keep grabbing fruit scattered along each route or collapse from exhaustion; a single hit from an enemy or hazard also ends a life. Hidden eggs contain power-ups, including an axe you can throw ahead of you, a fireball weapon, and a skateboard that carries you forward at speed while absorbing one hit. Levels are divided into areas ending with boss encounters, and the constant forward pressure combined with one-hit deaths makes precise jumping and route memorization central to progress.
